BabyJogger City Mini Review

BabyJogger City Mini Review

Chantelle Hazelden is from Dover in Kent and shares her thoughts of her experiences with the BabyJogger City Mini...

Quick Summary: Overall I really like this stroller, it's reasonably priced, good to look at and I can push it even with a child holding on either side. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending to friends and family. My child has been a lot happier since being in it as she has a lot more space and leg room to get herself comfy and because of how far it reclines, she stays really comfortable even when asleep.

Whats good?

  • Reasonable price
  • Simple to use
  • Modern looking
  • big storage basket

Whats not so good?

  • No rain cover included
  • Handles too high

My name is Chantelle Hazelden, I am 25 years old and I live in Dover in Kent. I am a stay at home mum to three beautiful girls aged 5, 3 and 18 months so I have a lot of time to try out many pushchairs. My previous pushchairs include a Mamas & Papas Pramette, Loola, Quinny Zapp and an Obaby Zoma. I mainly use my pushchairs for general use i.e. walking into town, taking the kids to school etc.

When looking for a pushchair I mainly look at three things, price, weight and maneuverability as with three children money is always an issue and getting out and about can be tough enough without having to try and push a heavy buggy around!!!

I recently had to purchase a new stroller after my lovely husband went and snapped the frame on my last stroller. There are so many pushchairs out these days I found it hard to decide which one to get.

I finally decided on the BabyJogger City Mini in black and grey. I prefer the black as I find it easier to get accessories like changing bags to go with it. However this stroller does come in a range of colours including orange, red and green. I purchased the stroller from Next at the price of £195 plus £3.95 P&P. I went for this model as it had many good reviews and it seemed to fit my criteria for price, weight and manoeuvrability. This stroller comes with an extendable hood, parent pocket at the back, reclines to virtually flat, nice sized basket underneath, swivel wheel at the front with good suspension, a strap to keep stroller folded and can be collapsed using one hand.

There were two functions that I felt worked well for the stroller. The first function I found with this stroller was the collapsing of it as you only have to undo two poppers and pull the handle and it collapses in half, this is so easy to do and once collapsed it is very compact so ideal for anyone with a small car. The second, being the double hood. I liked that the hood extends a long way so there is no need for a parasol as the hood shades your child from the sun and in both parts of the hood there is a parent window for you to keep an eye on your child. This also helps to shield your child from light rain but I don’t think it would be any good for heavy rain.

The one thing I found that I struggled with was the height of the handle. I myself am only 5ft 1″ so the handle is very high up for me and in turn this made the manoeuvrability of the stroller a bit harder for me.

I think to improve the pushchair they could have an adjustable handle, as previously stated the height is something I struggled with so and adjustable handle would make a huge difference for me. The other thing I think that lets it down is that it doesn’t come with a rain cover, you have to buy this separately, it would be nice if this was included in the package, I feel it would make it better value for money.

Conclusion

Overall I really like this stroller, it’s reasonably priced, good to look at and I can push it even with a child holding on either side. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending to friends and family. My child has been a lot happier since being in it as she has a lot more space and leg room to get herself comfy and because of how far it reclines, she stays really comfortable even when asleep. The adjustable five point harness also allows for a wide range of children to be seated comfortably and safely. There are also extras you can buy to personalise your stroller – cup holders, bumper bars and snack trays.
