Things we love…
There really is a lot to love about this hardworking double pushchair. As soon as we unboxed the Indie Twin we noticed the width. At just 75cm wide it will fit through any standard-width doorway, which is always a relief to hear for parents on the hunt for a practical double.
The practical appeal did not stop here as we also fell in love with the adjustable handlebar (an all-encompassing 67cm to 115cm) and the air-filled, go-anywhere wheels, which proved their worth when pushing over field and rough terrain and gave a lovely light push over smoother surfaces too.
The side-by-side seats of the double pushchair are nicely padded with a simple-to-use but quality harness system. We appreciated the fact that a strong and cosy carrycot could be added to the frame of the Indie Twin to offer a parent-facing option for newborn babies and make the pushchair suitable for newborn twins or a newborn and a toddler, as well as two toddlers.
The hood gave superb coverage and the adjustable calf rest came in very handy to rest smaller children’s legs on during nap times. We also noted that if the calf rest was popped all the way up at a right angle, it provided a more enclosed space for a newborn to lie in without the addition of a carrycot.
We also must mention the shopping basket – it’s huge! There is more than enough storage underneath the Indie Twin to suit any family’s needs, as well as the storage pouches on the back of the pushchair and the insides of the seats.
Things to look out for..
As is the case with many double pushchairs, the weight is something to consider. Coming in at 16kg it is on the heavy side, but this weight is only really noticeable when lifting the pushchair in and out of cars and from place to place. When pushing the pushchair it feels as light as a feather, even when fully laden.
Also in common with a large number of other side-by-side double pushchairs, the Indie Twin has a large fold, although we must add that it is very simple to operate. If you travel a lot or plan on transporting the pushchair and storing it in small places then this may play a part in your decision.
Our verdict
The Bumbleride Indie Twin has been a pleasure to use in many ways. As a parent, finding a double stroller to suit the needs of all the family can be tough. The Indie twin ticked all the boxes, allowing us to use a parent-facing carrycot for a newborn as well as having comfortable pushchair seats for toddlers. The tough exterior of the Indie Twin was able to withstand rugged walks over all terrains and the slimline 75cm-wide frame allowed us to shop in the city and fit through doorways easily too.
Even though it wasn’t always the easiest to lift and store, and the strap recline could be fiddly on occasions, for practicality, functionality and versatility, we can definitely recommend the Bumbleride Indie Twin.
