Material
The BundleBean Solar is made from a breathable, moisture-wicking fabric with a sun protection factor of UPF 50+. It feels cool and lightweight, even when you are out in the hot sun, and it washes well. The detachable hooded beach wrap is made of a very soft towel like material, and again this washes well and remains soft and smooth. Max does not mind having the BundleBean over his legs even when it is hot, so it must feel comfortable and gentle even against very delicate skin. I have been using the Solar during the recent heat wave and I am pleased to report that it has not resulted in a sticky, sweaty baby, so the moisture-wicking properties clearly work.
The fit
The Solar can be used on pushchairs, car seats, slings, bike seats and more. It is so adaptable as it attaches simply using Velcro straps, so you can fiddle around with these to get the perfect fit for whatever mode of transport you are using it on. I have used it as a blanket over the legs, instead of a sunshade on the pram, a car seat sunshade and a sling cover, and have been able to get a good, non-slip fit on all of them. There is a zip at the bottom end, which you can pull tight to create an elasticated ‘pouch’ around your child’s feet – ideal if you are using as a blanket on a pushchair, or on a sling. The detachable beach wrap section can be used with the Solar as an extra layer for those cool summer evenings (especially useful if you are lucky enough to be going away on holiday), or you can remove it and use it as a hooded beach or bath towel. Great idea for the beach when your little one doesn’t want to sit still for you to cover them up! I have even used it as a mat to lie Max on for nappy changes and playtime.
Conclusion
I really struggle to find anything negative to say about BundleBean Solar. The only thing I can really come up with is that it is currently only available in one colour. It might be nice to see it available with a different colour trim, or maybe with the hooded beach wrap section in a range of colours. But to be honest, this is the perfect summer product. You can use it in so many different ways and it eliminates the need to carry lots of different products – the Solar can do the job of them all! It offers great sun protection for your little bundle, and it keeps them cool and comfortable. If you only buy one baby product this summer – make it the BundleBean Solar!
